A small caterpillar grows and develops.
It eats and stores food, getting ready
For the transformation that will soon take place,
As the caterpillar turns into a butterfly.

One creature becomes another,
But it remains the same living thing.
It changes from crawling to flying,
From ordinary to beautiful.

If only humans could do the same,
Or maybe all creatures,
Transforming from what we are
To extraordinary beings.
