A childhood like mine

Funny how you told me,
That there were others like me,
when really i was the only one.

When you are a child
You're not supposed to be on drugs,
You're supposed to have fun.

But i spend my child hood in the hospital,
Hooked up to a machine,
Getting new blood and too many vaccines.

You tell me that i don't know,
How hard for you it was,
But remember I went through it too,
I was the only one.

You told me to be strong,
But it wasn't very easy,
When I saw you cry,
My stomach became more queesy.

It's worse than the needles, surgeries and broken bones,
Seeing you, my mom and dad cry,
When you were told, I'd never get to come home.

But you know I made it through it,
And besides the pain, I'm fine,
It could have been worse,
Now I just have a mature state of mind.

When you are a child,
You're supposed to have fun,
Not hooked up to a machine and doped on medicated drugs.
