ode to my blankie

You know my whole life.
You’ve been there through it all.
Many holes,
old faded color-
you were once purple,
but now white as snow.
You get smaller and smaller,
as I get taller.
With bows once at all your corners,
they have fallen and faded like leave in the fall.

You were there when I was young,
you kept me safe through the storms-
the nights I would wake up crying,
You were there to keep my calm.
Clenched in my arms,
every single night of my life-
without you I can’t sleep,
without you I feel incomplete.

You were with me since birth,
And even if you‘re torn or tattered,
You keep me warm,
that’s all that matters.

You were my friend through it all.
I cried to you
and you listened-
like as if I had a shoulder to rest on
and a lent ear to hear me out.

To every outing when I was a toddler,
and every sleep over when I was a young child,
you were there for me.
I know you’re my friend forever.

You may not be as soft as u were-
or as perfect as the day I met u,
but even if you’re ripped apart
and sewn back together a million times,
as long as I live I will have you.

You are the best in my eyes.
From then till now,
I will keep you in my arms.
I can count on you to calm me
and keep me from harm.
My faithful friend,
your not just fabric and stuffing,
your so much more,
to me you have a heart and soul.
