Crossing Over

Standing on a broken bridge
With water underneath
Cut my arm on a ragged strip
Blood twisting around beneath
The pain inside my forearm grew
Metaphorical to me
The numb sensation was nothing new
My whole body agreed
The wood it started trembeling
And my legs, they felt quite frail
But everything was so dissembling
I held fast to the rail
My mind it started wandering
Down a bouldered path
And in a state of quandary
My limbs retreated back
I layed there in a swollen daze
The world slowly crashing down
I opened my mouth and caught the rain
While I started sinking into the ground
My eyes withdrew into my head
And my nose just faded away
The soil was my final bed
And I am no longer afraid
