Sending You A Rose

When I shut mine eyes
All that I see is a vision of you here.

Joy and laughter fills the air,
Fun and games,

But when I wake up, it
Confounds me how things have changed.

From how it used to be
You by my side, loving me,
Needing me and wanting me.

Our love . . . was like spring in May
Surly back then I thought I'd never see this day
A day where my mind and my lonesome room is devoured with dismay

Ever since the day that you came
My life has been modified or exchanged
You've consume me with your flame
My behavior is now tamed
This heart of mine written with your name

But now everything has changed
My life appears to be a pointless game
My mind is going insane
Over this one and handsome Dane

I steadily think of you all the time
Even the letters in your name dwell in my mind
Winter, spring, summer and fall
My soul only longs for you and that is all

Catastrophically I hear you have another
Not better, Lover
However it fails to matter
Because in my heart you will always be my "Smooth Operator"

I wish I could properly explain to you how I feel
But no word seems right
I wish I could show you my affection and zeal
For you I would give my life.

My feelings cannot be verbalized
My actions show no sanity
Its like you've got me hypnotized
And there's no waking me

I don't know what it is
I don't know what you've done
However, one thing that I do
Know is that you are definitely the one.

The one who made my heart take flight
The one who left me sleepless in the night
The one whose face is as bright as the morning light

Yet the one who has brought this horrific storm my way
And turned my happy days to despair
Maybe I should be the one to blame for giving you my heart to bear
I remember when I was your lady
Your sweet Sadie, your only baby.
Now to know you have another love, it's driving my crazy

I wanted us to have children
Go cruising,
Do odd things that were vibrant and amusing
But we didn't

The fact is that I wanted us to grow old together
I wanted our love to last forever
With our relationship surviving any type of dangerous weather
However . . .

Nevertheless I dedicate this rose to you
In memory of all the things that we used to do
This is a token of our love that we once shared
A simple reminder that I still do care

It represents the beauty and life of our love
Which will never be forgotten because it is carved on my soul
This poem is one that needed to be told
Don't try to sell it for it's worth more than silver and gold.
My love is priceless, constant and ever present

Because it starts and ends from the heart
Cover to cover
Lover to lover
