Pain

Oh, 'tis a wretched thing
this love is.
It starts with a sting
and grows.
Why must I be a prisoner
to this horrible pain?!
As bad as it hurts
to remember you,
I am even more afraid
of the pain if
I forget.
Oh, how sweet it was
when you were with me,
but when you left,
I died.
No, if I had died,
I wouldn't hurt so!
No, if I had died,
I'd be able to let you go.
But all your memory does
is haunt my every
moment.
For you are on my mind all day
and you tease my
dreams at night.
Oh, why hurt me so?
Please tell me.
What is the key to
unlocking this prison
of your memory and
my love?
What must I do?
