It was sunny.
It was warm.
She was told to go out and play.
But she sat there on the steps.
She could hear her scream.
His yells.
Fighting again.
Always fighting.
He needed money for his drug.
Always stealing from her purse.
It became quiet and still.
Then he ran out.
Not looking at her eyes.
She got up and walked to the car.
No.
He yelled.
Still not looking her in the eyes.
Stay.
Daddy?
No.
He rode away.
Not coming back.
She ran inside.
Mama?
No where to be found.
Into the bathroom.
A sceam.
Black and blue face.
Under water.
Cold.
