In the dark
when our smiles were lighting up
the road ahead of us
which was also empty,
along with our hearts
we sank into the sand
and lay mesmerized by the sky
and the stars

And I look at your eyes
glowing with excitement
but you looked so gloomy
like you wanted to cry
and in the dark I sighed
and sobbed without stopping,
you reached over and embraced me tight
and I knew we were going to be something,
if not something more than nothing
