Summer Has Almost Ended

the summer comes to a screeching halt
yes, the summer has come and gone
the times when were bored and stuff
we should have done more all along

now the summer comes to a screeching halt
yes, the summer has come and gone
days spent with no time on our hands
no time at all to spend, no time at all to spend

beginnings always fade, endings always sad
we should have gone to California
we should have made a get-a-way
we should have gone today
we could have cried together in the sand
little girls and their lemonade stand

Venice Beach without our feet there
summer sweat without the heat
we should have done a little more
spent a little more time together

summer has come and gone
I'd rather cry and watch the winter come
but instead we watched each other grow
and we watched the summer go
