My room was always dark
Except for the thin line
Of light coming from under the door
The purpose of this glow was
To let me know if someone was there
Standing
In front of it
Most nights there was
So, Id hide in the corner
Curling up into the tightest ball I could
Wishing I would just disappear
Some nights I did
I would seem to float up, high
Watching this man
Do things to a girl my age
I knew they were wrong, but
She would just go limp, she seemed to be
Confused, unsure
Caught between a moment of pleasure
In a lifetime of pain
I watched her night after night
Then she looked up
Our eyes locked
That is when I realized
I was watching
Myself
