This Dream

When you walk further from me,
My hand reaches to caress the folds of your shirt.
I strain to catch your scent on the breeze.
You are my obsession, something obscene.

I love you, in a profound way that words can’t describe,
However, I will try.
It’s the feeling you get when looking at the sunset,
Or the flutter you feel when the light hits the rippling waters at dawn.
It’s the feeling you get when the sun raises over the trees,
It’s even the way the morning winds kiss your skin.

You see, there’s nothing I can really do,
I’m lost to reason, but that’s alright.
I’d rather feel this throbbing ache than nothing at all.
