I watch you closely, hear you breathe, love you silently.
My eyes follow your hands sleek motions,
Watch the deft movement of your lips as you mouth words to an unknown tune.
I see this all with eyes of devotion, hurt expressions, pained heart.
I do, and always will, love you.

There are times when I wish it weren’t,
Like when I see you with her, arms wrapped about her tiny waist.
She is infinitely prettier than me, strong legs, beautiful hair, perfect
skin.
I sigh, watch you from afar, content to see you kiss her, and wish it were
me.
I brush the hair from my eyes, look at the tangles.
My fingers run over my face fleetingly, feel the uneven smoothness.

I close my eyes now, feel tears sting my cold flesh.
My arms close around my body, hug myself in desperation.
I feel a need swell in my chest as a shuddering breath escapes my lips.
You aren’t there, you never will be, and I realize this.
So I watch you closely, hear you breathe, and go on loving you silently.
