Miss Sunshine,
when you left
the skies turned black
the casualties of your departure
lie here on the cold floor
face down in the sorrowful waters
of absence and abandonment
you never said goodbye
you never said anything really
but the look in your light blue eyes
and the way you uneasily pawed
at the burning cigarette in your hand
and looked at me
with a sense of impending death
you hid anguish behind
a beautiful smile
that you'd been practicing for days
the lipstick smeared
across your hands looked
like the blood of your childhood
the casualty of a world
that couldnt understand
but Miss Sunshine
i understood everything
