Pain Never Dies

Let the tears fall.
Let them blend with the rain.
Let your bottom lip quiver,
To reveal your pain.

Let your heart shatter.
Let there be pain, let it hurt.
Slowly drop to your knees,
As you clench your shirt.

As I hold you from behind,
And as you quiver with fear,
I lean down beside you,
And whisper softly in your ear...

"I know it hurts,
And the pain can make you cry,
But hold your chin up,
And see how time goes by.
And because it does,
Notice pain will not last.
So be strong and brave.
Your pain will soon pass."

And as you smile soft,
Trying to hide your heart that cries,
I see right through it.
To the pain in your eyes.

There's a scar inside you,
That will never go away.
It's marked across your heart,
And there it will stay.

Pain never dies,
And wounds never fully heal.
You try to make it stop,
But the pain is just too real.

So as I watch you
Silently cry in the rain,
Longing to hold you,
To rid you of your pain.
