The Prolonged Embrace

"No Stars are out tonight," he says
"But the sound lives on amongst our hearts
The pulsating of hopes and dreams
We all encountered…they have yet to die.
Still hanging from the thread tied to my finger
It anticipates my every thought and perpetration.
To unravel this string and let the burden go,
Or to reel it back in and retain within my clutches
This paces through my mind stepping upon my nerves
Releasing a shriek throughout my already weak mind
This beckoning of my relinquishment bewilders me
Upon this hilltop, my body will wait
For the call of another distraught star out of place
We will then meet our prolonged final embrace."
And the boy waited.
