Too Late

Your quiet heart and silent way,
Always held me in wonder.
That someone so well liked,
Could like someone so unknown as me.

Your steadfast loyalty,
And alluring charm,
Held me captivated
I could not leave.

But you could,
Though it was self folly when you did,
And you realised your mistake,
You still broke my heart.
Though you healed it not long after,
It still hurt long enough to scar.

We were happy,
Yet I sensed a subtle discontent.
I was right to worry,
You had denied yourself once again.
This time I feigned happyness and joy,
To cover the second scarring of my heart.

Your realised your mistake,
But by the time you reached me it was too late.
Id took the knife,
And peirced my shattered and scarred heart.
When you found me
I was still and cold....
And you were too late.
