Her hands are clenched,
Behind her back.
Eyes shut tightly,
Blocking out the tears.
She sniffs hard,
And answers her father meekly.
It goes on like this everyday,
Through bruises,
Broken bones,
And lost innocence.
She's sick of having to hide,
When her teachers and friends,
Notice the marks.
She hides in her room,
When he comes home,
Hoping to be forgotten.
But he's drunk once again,
Pounding on her door,
And she's covering her ears,
Crying in the corner of her room.
She's given up so many times,
That she has to have one last stand,
To show him that he doesn't own her.
She brandishes the knife,
One last defiant look in her eyes,
And runs the blade along her skin.
The pain is sharp,
But it is nothing to what,
He's done to her before.
On her note she leaves him,
The one she thinks,
He'll never care to read,
She lets him understand,
That even though her broke her body,
He could never break her spirit.
The blood stained pages,
Ring out true.
Her cries for his ignorance,
When he finds her on the floor.
He screams and cries,
Like she once did.
He drove her to her mother's fate,
And now he's all alone.
