Repair Me

The bitter ache of deception
Has sunken in with talon like claws
It's eye staring hatefully
Into the very core of my selfishness
I don't know love
Though love seems to know me
I've never felt the rapture
Nor have I ever felt the defeat
There have been others who have fought to get in
Tried to repair me
Their attempts were all wasted
I simply cannot love
You are nothing more than
Another victim of my web
Captured by my seemingly innocent gaze
But what you see isn't real
And behind these eyes I am hurtful and cruel
I won't offer any reassuring words
As I turn my back on you
I have no desire to see you cry
So I'll save you the shame
And leave quickly
Soon enough you'll have faded
And another will come along
Captivated by my darkness
Entranced by the possibility
That they might be able to repair me
