cold winter's hill

I knew her once,
Her breath now still,
Lying upon cold winters hill,
Dead leaves your only blanket now,
I watch in night you who were so bright in life.
And I know not how.
You smiled at the world's cold eye
she's perfect, Had it all and still,
She lies there upon cold winter's hill.
I burn unopened letters over you, Will
that keep you warm?
You lie there,
Unwilling eternal fixed smile, Safe
from me and harm. Hands you would never
let touch you in life, Lay softly on
your face, Eyelids close over dulled
eyes,
All I ever wanted was your grace.
The shovel lying to the side, Your
coffin dragged far from the filth,
You rest with me forever now, On this
cold and lonely hill. I killed you once
my little love, Because you broke my
wings, With careless hand in unthinking
act, What sadness your words bring,
They lie there, In harsh dead air,
Waiting to fall on only me. And so I
drag you from your sleep to rest now
with me here and weep, With eyes pushed
closed by undertaker’s hands, I should
have been the one to silence your gaze
with a loving kiss, Why did you bring
me away to this. I killed you once
now I’ll avenge you in the only way I
know how. And so the knife slips so
softly within and I fall soft upon
your chest, So mocking the pose I
assumed in life, We sleep together on
cold winters hill, My eyes forever
open.
