She used to stare up at the stars
Every night wishing one would fall into her lap
And she could feel the burn of it in the palm of her hands
But each night she wished a little harder
The dimmer that star appeared to be
She wanted to marry him
Wanted to be with him and have his future,
She wanted to share everyday with him
He hurt her and all she wanted was a small kiss
She forgot how it was to be independent
Forgot how it was to feel true love
How it felt to be wanted
And to want something that could hurt you
It’s like the stars at night,
So bright, so far away
But if you wish long and hard enough
It could be yours
She didn’t want to leave him,
She could still feel him rubbing her back,
But he was kneeling in front of her
Telling her everything he could do for her,
How he wanted to be with her and how beautiful she was to him
How he couldn’t bare to see him hurt her
He wanted to be the one holding onto her,
Filling her empty eyes with hope and empty heart with love
He wanted to lay her down and watch her dream
He pulled her to him all the while she wasn’t willing
But she wasn’t pushing him away,
She didn’t know if she could make the jump, the change
He touched her face, turning her cheek
He looked at her,
This was going to be her last move,
She knew she loved him,
But that was before all his mistakes,
She didn’t like the hurt, or the day –to- day love,
She wanted a man to pick her up and pull her along
She knew she was a weak girl,
She told him, “ I fear being alone”.
She continued with the mistake,
He played over and over in the back of her mind,
He was thinking of her,
He had the star in the palm of his hands,
The one she always dreamed of,
He wanted to bring it home to her
He didn’t know what he was coming back to
Didn’t know she forgot his existence and that he favorite colored still
remained blue
He didn’t know she found someone that would look her in the eyes
And would reach for her hand,
Maybe this wasn’t her mistake at all
Maybe all the while it was his mistake
The first time he threw her onto the ground,
Should have been her first cue
