Misanthrope Angel

An angel is waiting
Almost wishing for her exile.
Can’t she shed her wings
And be rid of the weight of her halo?
Can’t human be enough?

She is the peace maker,
The one who is “perfect”,
And all with a smile.
The one who steps aside
And gives up everything.

But the fall was so far
Without the wings to hold her up.
Revealing her true form only to find
Lies and hypocrisy among misanthropes.
Pushed about until she was one in the crowd.

Now she’s the one waiting
And wishing for death to take her home.
Hoping for the familiar feeling of the halo,
But never able to take the last step
Into the blinding light she lost.
