being insightful
amounts to nothing
putting it to use,
though, professions
helps you,
at least in your mind
to know you are
better than most
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
can a person be
in reality
just what our eyes
say they are.
we cannot trust our eyes
those around us may just be dreams.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

light has a way of choking possibilities
it slips thru cracks and penetrates
no way out to dream
and truly be awake
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
nothing is beautiful
not the pockets of space,
we consider to be.
their trees and streams up close
are flawed
satin northern hills turn into rough sage
we cannot be defined
by the places we see
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

can see it in thier eyes
the blame and surprise
why did they flicker by and why are the other eyes empty?
whether or not they are there
still real, unadultered
its as though they pretend
the rest of the world expects it
but they are still there
a bit bruised, but intact
i only want to find
that unexplained vibe
flowing from their now obvious faces
