one house two years then another the next
but this one was 4 years and this one was best
then the family split up each parents going their seperate ways
then a new house 5 years in a row
until they find a place to stay
a place where they farm
a place far away
this is not where she wanted to stay
a place filled with love a place filled with glee
that's the place her heart wants to be

its moving day and her heart just wants to stay
her heart wont let her have fun any another way
its moving day and the truck is packed up
a girl in denial wishes her family luck
its moving day as a tear creeps down her face
a tear so delicate like an expensive vase
she tries to think she's staying and just talks on the phone
then soon enough she realizes she's a long way from home
as she crosses the border into an unknown state
her heart skips a beat, only depending on fate

a feeling of forgetfulness then creeps upon her mind
something was forgotten something she may never find
she has left her heart in Maryland
and she's left it with a smile
this is her last smile until she finds her heart
her last smile until she makes her start
the last smile came with the first tear
and while the first tear shed a thousand fears
the last smile brought back her greatest years
