Early mon. morning
a phone call takes my breath away
my eyes are stinging
my lips are quivering
my whole body is beginning to shake
i knew i should have took you home
just like a good friend would do
but i was just so tired
and you said you'd be fine
so off to my room i went
hoping momma wouldnt hear me
it was past my curfew
and there was still whiskey on my breath
i knew youd get home in one piece
because thats just the type of person you were
but i guess i was wrong
you didnt even get one block away
i knew i shouldve took you
but you promised me you'd be okay
why'd i have to agree
why couldnt i find the words to say
i dropped the phone
and started heading for the door
but, i guess my insides found me first..

I guess now
as i stand under this tent
in disbalief
wondering how you died so young
thinking how i shouldve took you home
i guess this is what happens to man alive
when friends let friends drink and drive...
