Diamond in the rough

Not appealing in the eyes of man,
appearance all worn and scuffed;
Just an ordinary man He was,
but certainly a diamond in the rough.

He labored without a murmer,
His work was awfully tough;
I heard not a sound of complaining,
from this diamond in the rough.

Minimum wage was His pay,
He claimed it was good enough,
"My heavenly treasures are laid above,"
said this diamond in the rough.

Suffered snares and bad remarks,
He politely took their stuff,
sparkled while He toiled all day,
was this diamond in the rough.

Amid the unseen tears He shed,
they continued to poke and rebuff
but this man remained in tuned with God
a real diamond in the rough.

A pillar of strength in weakness,
never conceited or tried to bluff.
It would be great to have more like Him,
more diamonds in the rough
