If Only They Knew

Skipping along the chalky boxes
Throwing stones to see who goes first
Jumping,
Laughing,
And playing together
For all they have to worry about
Is fun and joy
Playing together
And who can stay out late

Walking along,
Looking over at their joy
I can’t fight a laugh
For only if they knew
Their time of joy would soon die off
And all that would matter
Is keeping themselves alive
Fighting off drugs
The shouts and put-downs
To be “cool” and “loose it” before all of their friends

For if only they knew
They would be shoved and pushed,
As they walked down the dim hallways
For being themselves
Yelled at and put down,
For not being who they want them to be
Laughed at and shoved aside,
For not being in “the crowd”
For if only they knew
They’d be gone
Just like you

...Hmm, I like this one and I feel that it has alot of meaning behind the
words, enjoy...
