How does it feel
Before you take your first drink of the morning
It’s your saving grace
Your dearest friends

Do you remember the nights
The ones you covered with your intoxication
You held me close
And said that you needed me
Said you needed the love

I knew you wouldn’t remember
I took the words for granted
Letting them creep right into my heart
All the while they were covering my eyes from the truths

The truth that you could bare without me
One more drink and you wouldn’t even know I was gone
The truth that if you fell down and I wasn’t there
It was true that you wouldn’t even bother to care

You can take the back of my hand
And wipe your brow
You know I won’t mind is what you said
You said therefore there was no need for me to care

I said I couldn’t be rushed
Love wasn’t supposed to be like that
Like the rose in the vase,
There was no need to pull its petals when it had already begun to bloom
It couldn’t be rushed
It wouldn’t be as beautiful,
It would not have all the fullness
Would not have all the truths

So put your glass down
And take my hand slowly
Give me your shoulder
And for you I’ll be there
I’ll be there mostly
