Sweet Butterfly

-She is a goddess
One with everything
Worshipped and adored
The praises graze off her skin
Forming drops, of golden dew
The tears roll slowly from her eyes
The rain hides, the tears she cries-

why is that she peers
so far away from here?
is her palace nothing to behold?
what is that she seeks?
nothing is worth more than gold
she wanders 'way from her mind
and seeks a world that is kind
she floats on to a place
not filled with their silky, black lace
dreams of happiness without a price

-She is a goddess
But her prayers,
Remain unheard
The sweet glow dims 'round her
But there is no cure
Her happiness floats away
With the last of the tide
Washing away the mask
That caused her to hide-

for the world seems so clear
when reflected in a single tear
she sits down and continues to cry
why does she slowly die?
even though one of their own
she still feels all alone
crumpled up inside herself
she longs to be her own self
they swarm 'round like bees
trying to be seen
craving attention
while planning her destruction
Come away o lost Butterfly!
Fly away, lest you want to die

-She is a goddess
Devoid of reality
She has no voice
But longs to sing
Tears of joy 'scape down her face
As a single note flees
Into the night's embrace
Sweeping far from this place-

*special thank you to the person who inspired this poem. i know that she
will find herself one day.
