As I stand on the cliff staring down into the abyss,
I ponder whether to take the plunge
Or stay wandering in ignorant bliss.

If I never take the chance
I will never know what could have been;
I will continue the sultry dance
Of a struggle I will never win.

I could jump into the pit
Of following hopes and chasing dreams
But I am not quite certain if
the flame is lit
The fire that forever gleams.

If I stay here I will forever regret
That I did not go for my desires
That my utmost hopes were never met
And I did not climb to the top of my spires.

Once I dive in I can never come back
My commitment will be forever remaining
But there is little that I will lack
When the moon of achievement is waning.

Should I proceed into the deep?
I hope I was wise-
Time for the leap...
