“Broken Bones (You Will)”
What is this odd sensation
tightly gripping to my neck
I reach to release myself
from this death grip on my throat
then I realize these are your fingers
squeezing squeezing tighter tighter
and you know I cannot breathe
you have found the pressure point
and you had to ram your knife in it
can you not see the lacerations on my skin
can you not see the swelling of my broken
bones
I will take a few steps backward
and let her lick my wounds
dress them and change the bandages
when my blood saturates their cloth
stitch me up tighter tighter
and when I have regained all of my strength
I will write you a letter oh yes I will
and in it I will include oh include
the million ways that I will make you pay
you will pay your duties to me
and I will dangle you over the edge of this balcony
I will hold you by a tattered thread
stare cold into your eyes as you plead
as you beg for your worthless life
but then when I let go and watch you fall
I will smile as you scream all the way down
hitting bottom in a different way than I did
when you viciously attacked me with your words
and your slander and your lie lie lies
see the lacerations on your skin
see the swelling from your broken
bones
oh yes your broken bones
can you identify this odd sensation
wrapping around your neck
it is queer at first
until it starts to hurt
and that last breath pulls itself out of your body
you will know my vengeance
you know nothing
of my vengeance
yet…..
