Follow Time

If time could take me back to the days,
When I had everything I would ever need,
I’d drop all of this to follow him,
His words of advice I would heed.

If time could take me back to the days,
Where the only things that made me cry,
Were boo-boos on faces and scratched up knees,
I would follow his every stride.

If time could take me back to the days,
Where I had recess to look forward to,
I would give all of my greatest possessions,
In order to follow him through

For it seems to me that as a young child,
My only wish was to be older,
To stay up late and watch T.V.,
To be taller, and stronger and bolder.

But as we grow in age our wish seems to change,
We would give anything to be a child again,
But time wont allow us that will it now?
It seems we are stuck my friend.

If time offered me a trip back to the days,
I think I would have to say no,
But I would ask him to stick around for a while,
To see where else I might go.
