I Mean

You say I love you
But you mean I hate you
Because I know the truth
And the truth is your biggest fear
So climb back up your tree of good feeling
Your maple sweet treason will go undetected yet again

Swing your feet from the branches
And smile your cute little smile
Until the next Joe walks by
And you say I love you again
But this time you swear you mean it
Until he too learns the truth

I say I love you
But I mean I hate you
You are nothing but a whore
In search of some kind of acceptance
You search not for love
But for the right to say “I loved”

I say I hate you
But I mean I envy you
The jealousy hits me in the back
Like a knife of hate
Through mortal flesh
And you smile your cute little smile

I say I’ll kill you
But I mean you’ll kill yourself
With a feeling of insecurity
That will never cease to exist
It will hit you in the back
Like a knife through mortal flesh
