Tugging on Air Molecules

We had a trust all those years ago,
And deep down it will never be broken.
If I can hold him in my heart forever,
I'll forget the time since we've spoken.

He could embrace a moment with passion,
And his charming smile would never fade.
Now when I see him lie empty,
It shows true the great mess I have made.

The mist is rising off of my backyard,
While he's holding tightly to pillows.
Maybe I'll glance back over my shoulder,
To find we are closer then we know.

Or this could just be a short separation,
To serve only the purpose of teaching us.
It's too lonely and painful to be apart,
When our feelings are so continuous.
So I will never doubt he meant the same.
