Some times I think as I stare at the sky,
About how people can turn on you in the blink of an eye.
They tell you they love you through thick and through thin,
And they’ll be by your side ‘til life comes to an end.
So you surrender your heart, your body, your soul
As you fall deeply in love, you let yourself go.
You feel they’re the one for the rest of your life
So you’ll stand by their side, and you’ll put up a fight.
They shower you with love, make you feel so safe and warm,
And they tell you they’ll protect you even through the greatest storm.
As the years pass by, through times you’ll go that’s tough
But you vowed to always to love them, you refuse to just give up.
Then a light begins to shine, and the darkness starts to fade
As they tell you through their tears they love you, promises are made.
To make a better life for “Us” together, so they say.
We’re gonna’ be a family, a baby’s on his way.
Then one day not far from that you wait for them to come home
But as day turns into night and back, they’ve left you all alone.
At the blink of an eye they turn on you, never looking back.
Then you think about the baby and the father that he will lack.
There are no words that can describe the feelings of such pain.
Some days it hurts so bad you’ll swear it’s driving you insane.
As with every day that passes by the pain is slowly replaced
While anger and resentment starts to quickly fill its space.
At times you’ll often wonder if it is you who are to blame
But then soon you will realize he will hang his head in shame.
He’ll have to live his whole life through with the horrible things he’s
done
Haunted by the pain he’s caused, and what he has become.
For me I still can’t understand, as I gaze up at the sky
How someone you love can betray you, as quick as the blink of an eye.
