Human Cellophane

I could scream your name,
And you wouldn’t hear me,
This is no lie.
I could wave my arms,
And yell out loud,
But why even try?

I waved to you,
And held a smile,
Watching you leave with a plane.
I blew a kiss,
And walked away,
I was, and am, cellophane.

Now I sit here,
All alone,
Trying not to cry.
The sky has grown,
A deeper gray,
My eyes, they won’t stay dry.
