He was never really the type of guy I dated.
They were never really the kind of friends I needed.
Stuck in a world, with a life that I hated,
Feeling so blind, so lost, so in love, so vindicated

And do you know what it’s like,
To always be, the one who’s second best?
And do you know what it’s like,
To always put your friendship to the test?
And do you know what it’s like,
The guy you adore, he likes your best friend
Well that’s me. Here I am.

She was too young, He was too old
Well that doesn’t matter, that’s what I’m told
Well we thought he liked me,
But that’s not how it turned out to be.
And it sucks that things aren’t the way I like it
This is to sleeping in your arms, and why I had to try it.

And do you know what it’s like,
To always be, the one who’s second best?
And do you know what it’s like,
To always be a hazard to yourself?
And do you know what it’s like,
To feel like you never can?
Well that’s me. Here I am.

And I worked so hard to keep you satisfied
I stuck by your side, and always tried
This is to you, you got into my head
With all those comforting things you said

I’m always second best
I’m always putting our relationship to the test
I can’t believe you liked my best friend
I’m so glad I put this to an end
I was a hazard to myself
I put my heart out there, and loved nobody else
I put my hand in your hand
I was so stupid
That’s me, here I am

Here I am, to wreck the day, Here I am, not much to say
