I smelled death upon your skin
and a stench of cigerettes on your breath
you looked so worn, so thin
by the look of your tired eyes
I knew you'd been without rest
you took a brush and painted me a picture
of everything you've been through
I marveled at every detail
and felt every texture
there were no colors
it was clearly black and white
and the love you once carried for me
was obviously out of sight
you kept painting
a broken man
who had lost all dignity
lost all motivation to stand
one that wanted to run
because of me
I broke your true heart
and ruined your soul
I now what you were afraid of
blank pages
no more to write
and tired paintings
