Time's Toll

Looking back on years of past I wonder where it all went
All that energy and love shared turned as cold and hard as cement
I guess time really does dull our emotions and change us, not always for
good
Relationships fade away instead of growing stronger as they should
Time maybe the enemy of everyone and everything
It takes away the things we enjoy that only youth can bring
Who can say who or what you will be in years to come ahead
I wish I could tell the future for sure, if time stays true to itself, it's
the future I'll dread
Sometimes I wonder why everything is clouded and untold
But all I can do is sit back and watch as the future unfolds
A flashback to when we used to be young and alive
Pull it back into now, sittin' in an ally with a needle just trying to
survive
Inject me with all your feelings and temporary relief
It's easier to lose yourself and all your beliefs
If you could go back for a second and tell yourself not to be what you are
Then maybe you would have a chance to fix yourself, and avoid your scars
