drinking you away

You don’t come around here often
Said my heart is too weak
A commitment you can’t take on
There’s too many habits you say I could never break

We used to be close,
You were always that man right by my side
The things I thought about you always had the confidence to say
Our love used to be like tales in stories books
Until I picked up the bottle that night
And drank you away

And now I sing to you
Asking you boy please come to me
I’m broken hearted
I can’t be here alone,
You’re the face I need to see

And under the street light in the pouring down rain
The way you looked at me
How your hair stuck to your face
You were so beautiful
And I’m just not the woman I used to be

I can’t find myself,
Under all your dirty laughs and dissatisfied grins
Cause you only smiled to put me at ease
And only laughed unsteadily
Lying to me
telling me here is where you wanted to be

I’m wise enough to know
Every last one of your sick jokes
The things we never really were
And when you’re up,
I know I’m at my ultimate low
