Thin shadows on the floor
As light comes through the bars,
They threw away the key,
I'm locked here in the dark.
They said that I was evil,
I'd finally gone insane.
My household shut me out,
They shunned their family shame.
They don't understand,
No one really does.
They take this for face value,
But that's not all it was.
It was more than just a stab,
More than just his cry,
More than just his terror
When he realized he would die.
It wasn't to be cruel,
I'm not a heartless being.
I just wanted proof,
Seeing is believeing.
Years ago when he said
That he was my friend,
I believed with all my heart
He'd be there till the end.
Shortly after, he took my life,
A girl that I loved.
He took her off to his new home,
They left me all alone.
He said their love would last forever,
Through their pains, beyond their death.
She said that she loved him more,
With his kiss he stole her breath.
My love for her was too great,
I couldn't let her go.
I loved her completely,
Life with this girl is all I'd known.
Seeing is believing,
They needed to believe
That their love was not so true,
So I made them see.
Their love did go beyond his death,
For two months she mourned.
Shortly after she met a man.
She broke her lover's bourne!
The feeling for this
I can't describe.
I achieved my goal,
No need to hide.
Now that they believed,
I could face the facts.
I turned myself in
And the jury gave the axe.
I wait in my cell
An hour from my meal.
I go knowing that I'm complete,
Nothing more to reveal.
As they walk me out
A priest reads my rite,
When I catch a glimpse of her
In the corner of my eye.
Suddenly I cannot go,
A question I now have.
I thought that I would never see her
After that solemn stab.
She came to watch them kill me,
She came to watch me fry,
But I can't figure it out,
Why'd she come to see me die?
Their love was not eternal,
Why'd she want revenge?
It was she who had lied.
It wasn't I who had sinned.
As they strap me in,
I begin to have regrets
That I never made her believe,
She thought to me she owed no debts.
As they flip the switch,
I remember how she said
That she loved him always,
Even though he's dead.
It isn't fair,
This shouldn't be,
She should be crying,
It shouldn't be me!
She should be strapped
Here in this chair,
It was her who defied!
The priest finished the prayer.
I sat in my cell
With nothing on my chest.
She ruined my life,
Now she ruined my death.
