the pity she felt for him

And here you come to me on the dullest of nights
At all the wrong times
In the skies where there’s no stars

You place your hands over my eyes
And say ill be here
Ill be dreaming for you
Painting you pictures of rain
Pictures so cold and so blue

And I know you’re not happy being here
Alone on this cold night with me
But I want you to love and understand
I want you to open up to me and see

She felt the pity for him
Every sad story he told to her
And his hole life he said he had been stuck under the current,
Unable to breathe unable to swim
Every pain he inflicted upon her
He would turn around so she would not see him grin

Cause he knew he was winning
She had fallen to her knee’s
Bleeding uncertain if she could make it without him

And she couldn’t make it
Everyday she seemed more lost
A little more torn apart
She wanted her yesterdays back
She wanted someone to smile for her
A shoulder to lean on,
And she wanted him
to come back and warm her heart again
