That's Life

A tear consumes your cheek
A scream
Piereces the air
Your lungs are pumping
As you take
Your first breath.

Your mother holds you
Your father looks on
Friends and family are so happy.

Your mother counts your fingers and toes
Just to make sure
That they're all there
She smiles
as she counts to 10.

Your mom and dad
take you home
you begin a brand new life.

Baby
Toddler
Teenager
Getting "the talk"
Adulthood.

Paying your own bills
Buying your own clothes
Learning
Learning how to serperate the darks from the whites.

Then,
old age settles in
Diabetes
Arthritis
Alhtimers
Not remembering your own name sometimes.

You reach out
And you touch your daughters face.

A tear consumes your eye
Your voice manages to croak "I Love You"
Your lungs slowing
Stopping
As you take
Your very last breath

Thats Life...
