High School,
What a trip it is.
It’s where people
Who claim they’re teachers
Lock you in a room
Where they preach to you
About things that they claim
You’ll need for the future.
But there’s so much more
That they don’t teach
But you’ll eventually
Find out on your own.
High School,
More like low school
Because low is what everyone else
Tries to make you feel.
They make you feel like you’re worth
Less than what you are.
They bring down your self esteem
And spread rumors and lies.
But there’s so much more
Going on inside those large buildings
That they never care to tell you about
During your orientation.
People are constantly meeting others
And falling in love
And falling out of love.
Then, there are those
Who think backstabbing is fun.
Yeah, you’ll never expect it
But your best friend may soon
Become your worst enemy.
So not to mention the handfuls
Of friends you’ll lose.
No one ever warns you about them.
Think you’ll be with your nice
Tight little group of friends for long?
Guess again.
Chances are you might not
Even see them during the day.
Sure, you’ll make some new friends
And they might stay friends with you
Up until you graduate.
But those chances are slim.
Because each semester brings
A new schedule for you to follow
Which makes you meet new people
And maybe you’ll befriend some of them.
But the friendship wont last.
High School.
Many people just aren’t happy
Many turn into outcasts
And start eating lunch in the bathrooms
Behind the stall doors where no one
Can see them cry over what used to be.
Remembering junior high
And when everything was so nice
And sorted out.
It’s all this big part
Of a big step in our lives
Where we go to learn
But we don’t really
Take in knowledge.
Because while sitting in
Those desks on the
Ugly patterned tile of the classroom
There’s so much more
Going on in our minds.
It’s like this unscripted play
Called Teenage Hell.
