“He WAS My One”

I’ve climbed the fences
Barbed wire and all
I risked my life
Just to see you fall

Down on my knees
I begged your stay
Cried for your heart
But you walked away

“Better things will come”
But them you never saw.

I lost it that day
When I seen you crawl.

What has happened to you??
Where are you now??
You said you’d be back
But when and how?

What I loved about you
Is now your decay.

You want to speak
But have nothing to say.

Your heart has turned
Your tears have dried
But I remember those days
When you cared and cried
When you let go of your pride
Unstitched your lips
A smile on your face
And hands on your hips

But all good must eventually die
It all just bluntly ended
You left behind the man
Who first I was befriended

So I guess this is goodbye
Farewell to me and you
When you think about ‘the one’
Just remember who
