When We Were

I watch the films as they unwind
Blood and screams erases time
With every flash, the moment stays
As we grow older within the days

School busses break down and the rain falls
The sun grows weary as the moon calls
Church bells ring with a group of stickers
A stone is engraved as the candlelight flickers

Barbed wire cradles a chain-linked fence
Life and death is what we're all up against
A child playing in woods, finds a frayed noose
In which later in life, finds a good use

The camera collects dust and the picture fades
The smiles turn to frowns and go their seperate ways
A broken heart lies under a hollow chest
Six feet underground is where we'll truely rest
