Painted Angel

She sits in the high court
On a thrown of gold
All around her people stare
Their princess shines so bright

Little do they know
Tears are building inside her eyes
Their angels not so perfect
In the gallows of her heart
She drowns in pools of despair

But heaven forbid the princess should cry
To show emotion would be a sin
What kind of princess crys every night?

So she'll paint on a smile again today
And hang that fake plastic halo
Over her sulking head
She'll sew on the wings
A sparkle replaces the tears in her eye
Outside it seems as if she never frowns
But inside her "perfect" world
Is crashing down
