At first he was a welcome stranger
Who came by for brief visits once every so often
He, this appealingly mysterious dark stranger, took my mind away from harsh
unwanted reality of my life
He wrapped me up in his soothingly cool arms and protected me by surrounding
me in darkness
But soon he began to come uninvited
His embrace was no longer soothing and protecting
It became tight and suffocating, the darkness was unbearable
He stayed longer and his intentions became clear
He came appealing to me as a friendly, dark stranger
Who wanted to sweep me from the harsh reality
But as soon as I became dependant on his protective embrace he wouldn't let
go
Soon he never left he became the constant unchanging thing in my life
Finally it got so bad that the only way to make him leave was for him to
seep out of my body with my blood
But as soon as the scars healed he came back
Now he has his wish he is once again a welcome friend
This friend who leaves for brief vacations every so often
