All out war at home
Fists flying, children crying
Daddy leaving, no job having bum
Love replaced by resentment
And then
The 'C' word
Mommy has cancer kids
Diagnosed and just a child
Mid-twenties with death growing inside
Time for daddy to become a man
He steps up to the plate...He scores!
He signed his life on the bottom line
Exchanging one war for another
For his life and love he joined
Hey baby, I have health insurance for you
Because I’m going to Iraq
You thought this was another angry poem
But it’s not
It’s a love poem
See, Cancer, cancer was the cure
