free trade with guns
and hate in this fucked
up world,

i'll send you money
you send me drugs
and ignorance,

how can the market
control hate
and the fate
of the disenfranchised,

you can't buy
friendships or
security when
your neighbor hates
your skin.

government sucks,
yeah i agree,
but i'll put
up with the shit,
because someone has to clean
up behind the elephants.

i read a book
and you said yours
was better
than mine,

i really didn't read
a book
but only said what
was on my mind,

the market is not alive,
but it's the people
behind their stands
that live or die,

we can't legislate,
the good, the bad,
or the ugly,

and i can't buy
time in a machine
built to spill
the second it's on line,

it's not this or that,
or there or here,

you have to keep moving
and live inbetween the lines.

listen to what people say,
and try to mend,
flex and bend,
because there is no one strategy.

the day you build a wall,
of thought, of laws,
or economic policies,

is the day someone waits
with a hammer and a gun
to destroy what he
knows he doesn't believe.

there's no middle
until you stop.
