I’ve never asked for much
Beyond simple understanding
To take me as I am
And to care not for what I am
But to care as me being me
All that I get is misunderstanding
Discontent and distrust
And lines leading to nowhere
Read the wrong way
And left upon desertion and depression
Lost in my loneliness
I’ve lost my will
Become frozen in time
Life become a broken record
With an eternity of self-awareness
In the surrounding desert
I see many things broken
But I see through the shattered heart
I see the beauty of those
Also, tossed aside
Those I see broken and shattered
I’ve tried to repair
To give them what they ask
From this I’ve learned what it is
This simple thing, that I too lacked
I’ve learned understanding
From my own, misunderstanding
I take it as a gift
Because I know, there are more
Like me, that just ask for simple understanding
